Food sovereignty:         14 foods as prescription bags were delivered to our Pregnant, New Moms and Breastfeeding families during COVID19. 

Topic:                              We would like to begin our weekly report each week with appreciation to Mr. Tracy Causey and the Capital Area Health Network transportation team for their show of support and collective solidarity as food as prescription bags were delivered to our pregnant, new baby delivered moms and breastfeeding mothers. During this time of social distancing and isolation and in compliance with the CDC guidelines, we will make home deliveries to our families so that they will have the necessary nutritious foods utilizing food as medicine. Our staff and drivers continue to follow the state mandated 6 feet distance so that they maintain a safe distance from our families while they provide this essential service. 

This week we welcomed a new mother to our virtual sister circle. She is our first IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) pregnancy. To begin the new year, our virtual session consisted of our sister circle check in. This provides an opportunity for all our breastfeeding and expectant moms to let us know how they are doing, where they are in their breastfeeding and pregnancy journeys and if they have any concerns that they need to talk about or if they need support in any way. If any of our breastfeeding mothers become infected with Covid, we have secured formula as a supplement for their babies during the time they are ill. As always, our virtual families are open and receptive to having a safe space to speak their minds, ask pertinent questions and support one another.
